Anthem amplifies the Pinoy bandwagon

THE underground music scene has never been this alive, and it thrives bigger, better and bolder with time especially in the company of Anthem magazine, the first and only free alternative lifestyle magazine and the indie artists’ big-time backer.

It has always been the venue of those sporadic indie uprisings across the nation, and as these amplify into a raving revolution of music, Anthem, in celebration of its first anniversary, makes sure that nothing subdues those who have transpired into the best medium of expression for today’s young generation.

Paying tribute to the indie bandwagon of Philippine music, Anthem pushes forward, shines the spotlight on, and sets the stage for the Rock Gods of the future, as they stand and unleash their prefatory roar while thriving in sheer recognition of their talent. It’s what they need to be heard—a mic for the independent voices unbound by limitations, an amp for the artistry clamoring for rep. It’s the buzzword of the indie culture.

Anthem readers are treated to a diverse range of music news and features. Cover story shuns anything mediocre by featuring the season’s most popular avant-garde Pinoy artist(s) and why they’re the “in thing” in town. Marquee puts up the month’s hall of fame by featuring bands that have what it takes to feed those intense cravings for the different genres of Pinoy music. Juicily radical reviews of Pinoy albums and miscellaneous compilations fall under Tracks, while The Joint feeds the partygoer’s wanderlust with an ocular read on the urbanites’ favorite entertainment hangouts.

Every issue is also an all-access map of the most happening indie hubs where aspiring artists and music lovers converge. The recurring sections that bring you to the party zone include a calendar of the month’s hottest gigs and events so you can “Spread the Word!” and the sweeping Detour column where you get besieged with the places to be for an all-out diversion into the music scene.

Anthem Live! website launched

Anthem has opened a cyber portal as well for online indie hounds, with its recently launched Anthem Live!—an interactive website with enhanced features such as an all-inclusive forum, band profiles, music and video streaming clips and a dynamic calendar of events and performances. Local artists can register and sign in to showcase their music, videos and pictures. Alternatively, fans can sign up as well so they can listen to the coolest bands featured on the website. Log on to www.theanthemlive.com to groove into a cyber hub streaming with videos from the hottest local bands on the music scene and to get the latest updates on September’s lineup of indie artists and venues.

An eclectic lineup of the nation’s hottest indie acts will stir you in the mood to party week after week for the whole month of September in celebration of Anthem magazine’s first anniversary. The monthlong rock party will turn the Saguijo Bar in Makati City upside down on September 13, featuring a sultry succession of live acts from the grand Pinoy bandwagon—Up Dharma Down, Radioactive Sago Project, UrbanDub, Picturefilled, Stonefree, Rocksteddy, Kapatid, Greyhounds, The Spaceflower Show, Chicosci, The Ambassadors, Sinosikat? and Hardboiled Eggs. Their last two deviations are bound to pull in at the MAG:NET Café, Bonifacio High Street on September 20 and at Route 196, Katipunan Extension on September 27.

Anthem magazine is published by Thinkpadd Inc. It is the first and only free alternative lifestyle magazine that caters to those who thrive on unconventionally and swim against what is considered mainstream. Anthem will be the catalyst for music, art, individuality and life. Get a free copy from your favorite record and music bars, artists’ venues, better liquor and cigarette shops and clothing outlets.
