THE Philippine Sports Commission
received P50 million from Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor)
Tuesday as partial assistance for the country’s preparation for
the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
PSC commissioner Richie Garcia
said the amount will be used for the purchase of competition
equipment and funding the international training of athletes going
to the biennial meet in December.
“We are very thankful for
Pagcor for its immediate response to our request. The PSC can now
purchase the equipment and uniforms of our athletes,” said Garcia,
who co-chairs the RP SEA Games Task Force with wushu president
Julian Camacho.
“Some of the equipment are
available here while the others, like the boats for rowing and
canoe-kayak, will have to be purchased abroad. We are hoping that
everything will be ready before the end of the month,” he added.
