PERHAPS, if you have read
the first four parts of this series, you are already thinking
of certain people who might have an antisocial personality disorder.
But you are not sure. Though you should not be quick to pass
judgment, you should look long and hard at anyone who might be
antisocial if he/she is about to get close to you.
Mental health professionals have
come up with a list of questions that are guides in helping them to
explore the possibility of a person having an antisocial personality
disorder. Read on and the more yes answers, the more likely that he
or she is antisocial.
1. Do you have a short fuse and a
hair-trigger temper?
2. When in trouble, do you blame
others?
3. Have you had trouble keeping a
job?
4. Have you ever quit a job out
of anger without another one to go to?
5. Do you get into frequent
fights?
6. Have you physically or
verbally hurt your spouse?
7. Have you not ever followed
through on financial obligations?
8. Have you ever vandalized or
destroyed property?
9. Have you ever pursued an
illegal occupation like selling drugs or prostituting yourself?
10. Have you ever harassed or
stalked others?
11. As a child, did you ever skip
school?
12. Have you ever been cruel to
small animals like cats or dogs?
13. Have you ever moved to a new
location without having a job lined up?
14. Have you ever been homeless
or locked a fixed address?
15. Have you ever wandered around
the country with out any clear goal in mind?
16. Have you ever stolen or
burglarized?
17. Did you ever get a tattoo?
18. Have you ever used an alias
or gone by another name?
19. Do you tend to be impulsive
and make decisions without reflection?
20. Have you ever run a
“scam” or tried to con others?
21. Have you ever lied to gain
sexual favors from another?
22. Were you ever suspended or
expelled from school?
23. As a child, did you ever set
fires?
24. Have you ever thought about
harming or killing someone?
25. Do you tend to disregard laws
that you don’t like?
26. Have you ever beaten or
abused your children?
27. Are you sexually promiscuous?
28. Did you ever use a weapon in
a fight as a child?
29. Did you engage in sexual
activity before your peers?
30. Have you ever abused alcohol
or drugs?
31. Have you ever mugged anyone?
32. Have you been fired from jobs
because of personality problems?
33. As a child, did you ever lie
to authority figures, like parents, teachers or supervisors?
34. Have you ever been arrested
or convicted of a felony?
35. Was your behavior
incorrigible as a youngster?
36. Have you been jailed or
imprisoned?
37. Have you ever squandered
money or personal items rather than buy necessities for the family?
38. Are you relatively
unconcerned about having hurt or mistreated others?
39. Did you ever run away from
home as a child?
40. Were you ever adopted?
41. Have you ever snatched a
purse or pick someone’s pocket?
42. Did you ever move in order to
avoid the authorities?
43. Have you ever forged someone
else’s name on a document?
44. Have you been married and
divorced more than twice?
45. Do you feel you are better
than everyone else and above the law?
46. Do you feel the world owes
you a living?
47. Have you ever forced someone
to have sexual relations with you?
There you have it. There is a bit
of the antisocial in all of us, but, for some, it goes to the
extreme.
