The anarchy in our rivers

IT’s not news that two rivers in Bulacan were named among the 30 dirtiest rivers in the world by a New York-based environmental group. There should be more if the group were more diligent in its homework.

These rivers, which traverse the towns of Marilao and Meycauayan, are among the most polluted, according to the Blacksmith Institute. The World’s Worst Polluted Places for 2007 lists two sites in Africa, six in China, 10 in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, six in Latin America and five in South Asia.
