Talking tees

By Johanna M. Sampan

ACCESSORIZING is one of the simplest and easiest ways to make a fashion statement. Huge necklaces, bright and striking scarves, colorful headbands, glittering belts or big-bangles as bracelets—your accessories can definitely make you stand out in the crowd.

As for the new brand David & Goliath, thoughts and expressions are the best forms of accessory. Whether you are a hopeless romantic, guy hater, boy lover, drama queen, disco king, coffee drinker, punk fanatic or shopaholic, you can express your personality and individuality without having to tell the world who you are—just let a T-shirt do the talking.

This distinctive line was established by Todd Golman, whose motivation was to make people laugh and happy by combining his sense of humor with his artistic savvy while studying at the University of Florida. Named after his dad and his dog, Goldman was able to create a 30-page catalogue of his one-liner designs that marked the beginning of his own company even with no formal art training at all.

David & Goliath recently unveiled the Speak Your Mind series with customized T-shirts conveying personal jokes, statements and opinions of celebrities, political figures, artists, musicians, filmmakers and other interesting personalities. To name a few, noted broadcast journalist Cheche Lazaro affirmed her journalistic ethic with, “I support the fight against envelopmental and sensational journalism” while Senator Dick Gordon campaigned for nationalism by proclaiming, “What this country needs is not just a change of men but a change IN men.”

Author Jessica Zafra quoted, “Sometimes people are exactly as they seem; shallow and moronic” and host Patty Laurel showed her funny side with “Doncha wish your gerbil was hot like me?” An invitation “Eat Peace” was uttered from vegan and yoga instructor Corey Wills.

Not just for adults and teens, the unique clothing line has also cool stuffs for kids, toddlers and even babies. They too can express themselves with colorful shirts with various statements as design. Lip-gloss, notebooks, pens, bags, socks, bibs are also being sold at the store.

Regardless of age, gender, status, personality, taste and state of mind, David & Goliath encourages you to express yourself and speak your mind.
