SAN FERNANDO CITY: Police, with the help of some
barangay residents in Mabalacat, rescued yesterday a Chinese
businessman from kidnappers.
Senior Supt. Keith Singian, OIC–Pampanga
Police Office has identified the victim as Tomas Tom Sy, 30,
Chinese and resident of Reinarte Street, Juan Luna, Binondo, Manila
engaged in electronics business.
However, police said the
kidnappers managed to escape.
In his report to the regional
police director, Singian said the victim was on his way home when
three unidentified suspects (with Chinese accents) forced him to
board a Starex van (RDC-146).
Sy said he was blindfolded with
packaging tape, handcuffed and was locked in a comfort room before
he was transported to Sitio Mauli, Sapang Biabas, in Mabalacat. He
was also told to do as he was told lest he suffer the consequences.
“The suspects intended to hide
the victim in a secluded dumpsite in Barangay Mauli, Mabalacat,”
Singian said in a press statement.
While the victim together with
the suspects boarded the van, residents who saw the incident
immediately reported it to the Mabalacat police who then proceeded
to the scene.
Singian said the victim was
rescued in the said dumpsite.
Singian said recent verification
from Land Transportation Office showed that the van is owned by a
certain James Go Ong, a resident of Caloocan City. The van was
purchased in Subic, he added.
“I commend the active
participation of the community in reporting the crime, as this is an
indication of a rapport between the police and the community.
With this, we will further
strengthen our Barangay Intelligence Networks that we have earlier
established,” Singian said.
