Hapee eyes either Norwood or Cruz

HAPEE TOOTHPASTE is eyeing either Fil-American Gabe Norwood or UST forward Jervy Cruz to boost its campaign in the forthcoming PBL Invitational Cup.

Hapee team manager Bernard Yang said Wednesday he will consult with team owner Cecilio Pedro on who to choose in tomorrow’s PBL Rookie Draft at the Penthouse of the East Tower of the Phil. Stock Exchange Centre in Pasig City.

“It’s not going to be an easy decision. Norwood is the kind of player we want because of his athleticism, while Jervy is strong and versatile,” said Yang.

The 6-foot-5 Norwood, whose grandmother is a pure Filipina, played for George Mason University that made it to the US NCAA Finals against Louisiana State University in 2004.

Norwood is also being considered to play for the Harbour Centre-supported RP team in the 24th SEA Games in Thailand this December.

The Teethmasters, bannered by Rich Alvarez, Larry Fonacier, Eugene Tan, L.A. Tenorio and Peter June Simon, won back-to-back titles in 2003. They reached the finals of the Silver Cup early this year but lost to the Harbour Centre Batang Pier.
