Stonemaker to ship to Iran

PIEDRA Systems Inc. will ship manufactured stones to Iran, a company executive said Monday.

Alan Guzman, Piedra Systems Inc. vice-president, said the company was chosen by the Iran-based Environmental Architecture Gallery to provide the manufactured stones for its Iran and Dubai facilities.

Environmental Architecture will import five to 20 containers of processed stones from Piedra.

Iran’s booming construction industry has created a large demand for manufactured stone veneers, but its restrictions on US imports allowed sourcing its requirements from Philippine and other companies.

Piedra Systems is one of the eight companies that joined the Philippine delegation to the Big 5 Show 2007 organized by the Department of Trade and Industry- Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions.

For two consecutive years, Philippine building materials manufacturers have established their presence in the Middle East through the Big 5 Show, the largest and longest-running construction and contracting event in the Gulf region.

Because of the positive response to Philippine building materials makers, CITEM is completing a list of manufacturers that will join the Big 5 Show this year at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Big 5 is an ideal platform to promote a wide range of products and services like building systems, components, materials, fittings, and construction services, technologies for water and environment, air conditioning and refrigeration, cleaning and maintenance tools and equipment among others.
