CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga: President Arroyo has allocated P3 billion
to upgrade the power requirements of locators and the entry of
bigger investors into Clark.
Levy P. Laus, president/CEO of Clark Development
Corp. (CDC) said on Monday that upon the President’s instructions,
the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released the necessary
statement of allocation and release order to CDC and the Bases
Conversion and Development Authority.
The power-upgrading project at the Freeport will
have three phases catering to the power requirements of the more
than 400 locators and address the increases in current demands of
incoming locators/investors.
The current peak load demand in the freeport is
43 MW and this is expected to increase by 100 MW within the next
five years, said Laus.
In accordance with government, Laus explained
that the critical component of project has been submitted and
acceptance of bids is set on April 4 this year. He added that the
target completion of the project is nine months from award of
contract.
CDC authorities said that upon completion of the
power-upgrading project, locators/investors inside the 4,400-hectare
Freeport would enjoy uninterrupted power supply at all times.
