HARBOUR Centre coach Jorge Gallent believes Malaysia is the team
they should watch for in the 2008 Southeast Asian Basketball
Association Champions Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Malaysians are handled by former University
of the East coach Boyzie Zamar.
“Boyzie’s familiarity with out brand of play
is something that we have to be extra careful. He is also a good
coach,” said Gallent during yesterday’s PSA Forum at the
Shakey’s UN branch in Malate.
The Malaysians will also parade two former PBA
imports.
Harbour will open its title-retention bid
opposite Thailand on Friday.
Gallent thinks his boys could easily handle the
Thais. “We beat them by a wide margin last year,” he said.
Also posing a threat to the Batang Pier are the
Indonesians, who will be led by imports from Canada and the United
States.
The Batang Pier will be reinforced by Sam Ekwe.
The 6’8” Nigerian led the San Beda Red Lions to back-to-back
titles in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
After meeting Thiland, the Philippines faces
host Indonesia on Saturday and Malaysia on Sunday. The team, which
has the most number of victories at the end of the three-day single
round robin will bring home the crown.
