DENNIS ORCOLLO and three other heavyweights of Philippine pool will
try to end the dominance of their Taiwanese counterparts in the
Guinness Asian 9-Ball Tour Penang leg beginning Friday at G Hotel.
Orcollo, the world’s top ranked player, is on
a roll heading into the tournament. He won two titles in March—the
Quezon City 9-Ball Championship and the prestigious Japan Open.
To continue his streak, Orcollo should hurdle
nemesis Yang Ching-Shun and Ricky Yang in the preliminary round.
Only the top player from each of the eight
groups will advance to the knockout round.
“Malakas pareho ang ka-grupo ko pero mas
maingat dapat kapag si Yang ang kalaban,” Orcollo related.
