THE Kansas Jayhawks trounced the North Carolina Tar Heels, 84-66, to
reach the NCAA final on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio,
Texas.
Brandon Rush scored 25 points on top of seven
rebounds for the Jayhawks, who are eyeing their first national
championship since 1988.
Kansas will shoot for the title against Memphis
on Monday.
Chris Douglas Roberts had 28 points and four
rebounds to lead the Tigers to a 78-63 victory over the UCLA Bruins.
Derrick Rose finished with 25 points and nine
rebounds while Joey Dorsey had 15 rebounds for the Tigers, who
became the winningest team ever in a single season with a 38-1
record.
The Tigers are also seeking to achieve what UNLV
(1987), Duke (1999 and 1996) and Illinois (2005) failed to do -
which is to win the NCAA title after winning 37 games in a season.
