Pook Agoncillo clouters, ILLAM lead
Little League opening-day winners

POOK Agoncillo of Batangas pulled off a stunning 10-6 reversal over perennial favorite Zamboanga City in the Major League (11-12) division of the 2008 Little League Philippine Series on Sunday at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City.

Trailing 2-5 after five completed innings, Pook Agoncillo rattled in four runs each in the sixth and seventh frame to prevail.

Agoncillo’s second team also won, needing only four innings to conquer Pasig City, 21-7.

Defending Major League champion International Little League Association of Manila started its title-retention bid with a 15-5 rout of Camarines Norte.

Other opening-day winners were host Muntinlupa, Tanauan City, Ilocos Norte, Northern Samar, Los Banos, Palayan City, Batangas, Cavite, Marikina City and Antipolo City.

Little League district administrator Jolly Gomez and Muntinlupa Mayor Aldrin San Pedro were joined by special guests Samar Gov. Raul Daza, Manila Councilor Che Borromeo, former Manila Charter president Robert Evangelista and baseball association head Hector Navasero during the opening ceremony.
