To beef up its traffic force and inject it with
educated people, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)
will be recruiting some 200 more traffic law enforcers.
MMDA General Manager Robert
Nacianceno said they are now in the process of recruiting additional
traffic enforcers as part of the agency’s drive to go full-swing
with its various traffic tasks.
“We need 200 traffic enforcers
so we can strengthen and augment our forces in the major roads in
Metro Manila,” Nacianceno explained.
He added that those who want to
apply should be at least on the second year college level or better
yet, a college degree holder. Those interested should also be a
holder of a professional drivers’ license and not over 25 years
old.
Last year, the MMDA retired
thousands of employees, which depleted the entire workforce
particularly the ones serving traffic functions.
Gradually, the MMDA is replacing
them with new ones who have better qualifications.
Applicants who will be recruited
will undergo training at the Traffic Academy of the MMDA located
at the former Traffic Engineering Center in Manila.
Nacianceno, who is
currently the acting chairman in the absence of Chairman Bayani
Fernando, said the training will prepare the new recruits for the
job awaiting them.
After training, the new enforcers
will be deployed in major thoroughfares in Metro Manila and will be
part of the “new breed” of MMDA traffic enforcers.
