BAGUIO CITY: Acting on the
urgency of the issue, the Supreme Court has
set for deliberation an urgent motion seeking a reconsideration of
its division ruling that cancelled all mining rights and operations
of Filipino firms within the Diwalwal Gold Rush Area that paved the
way for the government to negotiate a mining exploration agreement
with controversial Chinese firm ZTE Corp.,
in the 8,100 hectare mining site.
The SC, which is now holding its
traditional summer session in Baguio City, decided to include in its
April 9 agenda the urgent manifestation and motion filed by the
Southeast Mindanao Gold Mining Corp. (SEM) for elevation of its case
to the full court, for discussion by the Court’s Special Third
Division.
