Police have no leads yet
in Asdala, Dalaig slays

The Manila Police District (MPD) said Tuesday that they are now having a difficult time getting the “real deal” on the slaying of two Commission on Election (Comelec) officials who once headed the agency’s law department.

MPD-Homicide Section Chief Dominador Arevalo said they are having a hard time solving the case of slain Comelec official, Wynne Asdala, as they have talked to at least five witnesses, including Asdala’s stenographer Rena Ballo. But all the witnesses have given different statements.

“Ballo’s statement is different from the other five self-proclaimed witnesses we talked to,” Arevalo told The Manila Times. “The other statements have no substance and are contradicting Ballo’s statement. As of now, we are only considering Ballo’s (statement) as the legitimate one, but we do not disregard the others.”

For the Alioden Dalaig slay case, Arevalo said they are still waiting for someone who can identify the man seen with the Comelec official in the closed circuit television of the Manila Pavillion last November 10.

“The two cases would take a long time to be solved since we are waiting for someone who could give new, concrete details on the two cases,” Arevalo said.
