Pardon for Oakwood mutineers not yet clear

Justice Sec. Gonzalez says granting clemency to Magdalo soldiers can be misinterpreted

JUSTICE Secretary Raul Gonzalez on Thursday expressed apprehension over proposals to grant a presidential pardon to the nine junior military officers who were sentenced to prison terms for their involvement in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny.

Gonzalez said that he is not against the grant of pardon but stressed that there are a lot of factors to be considered in the case of the Oakwood mutineers, who are part of the Magdalo group.
