PRESIDENT Gloria Arroyo underwent a regular
checkup Friday at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City, while
the Palace downplayed speculations about her health.
Presidential Security Group head Brig. Gen.
Romeo Prestoza said Mrs. Arroyo visited the hospital for her regular
medical checkup, and there is no cause for alarm regarding her
health.
After her checkup, Mrs. Arroyo immediately
proceeded to the National Bureau of Investigation headquarters in
Manila.
President Arroyo went to St Luke’s Hospital
“for a checkup due to symptoms of apparent pharyngitis” after
suffering from a sore throat in December.
On November 2007, Mrs. Arroyo underwent a
comprehensive executive checkup at the said hospital along with her
husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo.
Mrs. Arroyo underwent a two-day medical exam
also at St. Luke’s in November 2006.
She was hospitalized twice in June and July
2006, for diarrhea and fever, respectively. In her July hospital
visit, doctors said Mrs. Arroyo suffered from fatty liver.
