THE Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals banked on an impressive local parade
in the first half to hand Adam Parada and the Red Bull Barakos their
first loss in the 2008 Smart PBA Fiesta Conference.
With the locals doing most of the damage, the
Phone Pals built a 53-35 lead at halftime on their way to a 103-92 victory
Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum.
Don Allado set the table for the Phone Pals,
scoring nine points in the first quarter on 4-of-5 shooting.
Jay Washington and Mark Cardona joined the party
in the second quarter as the Phone Pals pulled away for their second
straight win after losing their opener to the Coca-Cola Tigers in
Panabo City.
The win put Talk ‘N Text in a tie for third
place with Red Bull Bull and idle Purefods TJ Giants at 2-1 behind
the undefeated Tigers (3-0) and the Sta. Lucia Realtors (2-0).
Allado, Washington and Cardona combined for 34
points in the first two quarters as the Talk ‘N Text locals
outscored their Red Bull counterparts, 47-25.
“I’m always telling the guys that we would
have better chances of winning when we’re playing good defense,”
said coach Chot Reyes.
