JUNIOR shooters from Quezon City, Tagaytay and Taguig see action in
the 1st Mayor Freddie Tinga Invitational Shooting Championships
starting Saturday at the PNSA Range in Fort Bonifacio.
The tournament kicks off a long list of programs
by reigning national pistol champion Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla,
who was tapped by shooting association president Art Macapagal to
handle the national youth development program that aims to develop
future champions.
PSC Commissioner Joey Mundo is gracing the
opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m.
“I’m excited to see for myself these
kids,” said Padilla, 15-time competitor in the South East Asian
Games who also saw action many times in other big international
events. “ The presence of commissioner Jose Mundo will surely
boost the morale of the young participant.”
As an additional treat, aspiring shooters who
failed to join the program will compete in an open category.
National team mainstay Carina Isabel de la
Victoria is the shooter to beat in the air pistol open in the
tournament supported by Taguig City, Spring Cooking Oil and Thermax
Ltd.
“I have been at the helm for too long now.
It’s time we discovered new talent,” said Padilla, whose
daughter Mica will compete in the air pistol open category together
with Mayor Tinga’s daughter Kylie.
