Hijacked ship’s crew now safe

 
The Philippine Embassy in Paris has reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that all 30 crewmembers of the hijacked vessel, Le Ponant, were released on Friday.

The vessel, which was reportedly hijacked last week in the Gulf of Aden had six Filipino crewmembers.

The French foreign ministry informed the embassy that all 30 crewmembers are in good condition and are now in the custody and care of the French marines.

The Filipinos were identified as a Marisol Abalos, 25, a cabin stewardess from San Mateo, Rizal; Domingo Barayang, 35, second cook from Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Gary Caingat, 27, waiter from Tandang Sora, Quezon City; Gilbert Glorioso, 30, a waiter from Antipolo, rizal; Alexander Hibi, 28, a utility man from Tondo, Manila; and Victor Rebanal, 35, a waiter from Polangui, Albay.

The embassy is coordinating with the French authorities for the repatriation of the Filipino crewmen.
