One-year benchmark rate rises on inflation

BANKS sought higher yields for lending short-term to the government due to soaring commodity prices, said the Bureau of Treasury.

At Monday’s auction, the government accepted lenders’ bids for the one-year Treasury bill, causing the benchmark rate to rise by 28 basis points to 5.993 percent from the previous auction. The government borrowed P1.797 billion during the fortnightly fund-raising exercise.
