Boosting Philippine-Iran ties

Philippine relations with Iran have always been cordial and mutually beneficial. During the reign of the deposed Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, overseas Filipino workers—mainly oil-industry technicians and engineers—formed a large part of Iran’s foreign community.

After the revolution, Iran became an Islamic Republic. Our relations continued to be excellent even if new government policies precluded Filipinos from working there in large numbers.
