Sec. Ermita signed an order allowing Cuerpo to serve
as mayor of the Rizal town while his case is pending
RODRIGUEZ, Rizal: After almost a month of being
holed up in his office at the municipal hall, Mayor Pedro Cuerpo
left early Friday morning, reportedly sneaking out to attend a
hearing at the Sandaganbayan in Quezon City.
The suspended mayor was due for arraignment in
two criminal cases before the Sandiganbayan; one for illegal
demolition and another for his refusal to process bidding permits.
THE Commission on Audit (COA) on Friday denied earlier reports that
the agency is investigating the alleged P429-million unaccounted
municipal funds of Rodriguez, Rizal under the administration of
suspended Mayor Pedro Cuerpo.
THE Department of Health (DOH) yesterday said it
would conduct its own probe to determine if the licenses of the
medical personnel who allowed the videotaping of the rectal surgery
of a male patient in a government-run hospital in Cebu City can be
revoked.
AS the world faces a rice price crisis, the government has decided
to develop the country’s largest prison camp into a rice basket,
the Department of Agriculture (DA) said.
