Johnny Alegre, best known as the
guitarist for jazz super group Affinity, is hitting the hotspots of
town and spreading jazz all around.
Just last December, he released
under Candid Records his fifth and latest album, Eastern Skies—a
collaboration that combines his jazz guitar improvisation with the
classical touch of the Global Studio Orchestra under the baton of
conductor Gerard Salonga, a summa cum laude from Berklee College of
Music in Boston and the musical arrangements of Ria-Villena-Osorio,
acclaimed jazz pianist and vocalist. Besides having an entire
ensemble of classical musicians to deliver lush baroque feel, a
stellar cast of jazz virtuosos complement Alegre’s guitar work: no
less than Koko Bermejo on drums, Colby de la Calzada on bass, Tots
Tolentino on saxophone and Joey Quirino on piano. You can expect
nothing less from Affinity.
