PHILIPPINE Basketball Association commissioner Sonny Barrios
suspended and fined Alaska Milk import Randy Holcomb for bloodying
the nose of Red bull’s Rich Alvarez.
The one-game suspension and P20,000 penalty came
after elevating the flagrant foul 1 called by the referees against
Holcomb to flagrant foul 2 following a review of the tape of the
game between the Barakos and the Aces Saturday in Laoag City. The
Bulls won in overtime, 100-97.
“There was no aggravating circumstances like
malicious intent to hurt, so Holcomb gets the minimum fine and
suspension,” said Barrios.
The 6’9” Holcomb appeared on Tuesday’s
hearing called by the commissioner to give his side.
“Holcomb was so remorseful naman. He admitted
his guilt although saying that he was going for the ball,” Barrios
said.
Holcomb, who was accompanied in the hearing by
coach Tim Cone, will miss Alaska’s game against the Air21 Express
on May 2.
