The bills Ledac
missed
|
|
MOST of the 17 to 20 bills
endorsed as priorities by the Legislative-Executive Development
Advisory Council have been discussed thoroughly in the House and
Senate but are being dusted off because their passage this time is
urgent and necessary. Since the current session has only until June
(after which the senators and congressmen must take much-needed
rest) for legislative work time, speed and action have assumed
urgency lest this session ends in a waste.
Many of the bills address timely
concerns, such as food production and rice supply, wage improvement
and amelioration for price increases brought about by rising energy
costs. Most welcome is the assurance by Ledac that Congress will
pass by May 1 the Affordable Medicine Bill and the income tax
exemption for minimum wage earners.

Rice crisis:
Malthus was right
|
|
Of course everyone knows Malthus. We quote him all
the time like this: food supply grows arithmetically while
population increases exponentially. There will naturally come a time
when we will not have enough to eat.
