The immoral contraceptives

Bravo for such a well-written article! (“Population increase is down,” April 18) There’s nothing like spelling out the truth with statistics to boot.

While the prophets of doom and gloom, the pernicious population control advocates among media and government sectors, are spewing out venom in favor of immoral artificial contraceptives, your article comes as a breath of fresh air, an oasis in the proverbial desert.

Let us encourage the Filipino faithful to uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church not only with regards to contraception but other issues as well.

May God bless you and your work, Mr. Bas!

Where will the P40- billion package go?

The President has announced a P40-billion package to support the recovery of rice toward self-sufficient position.

It’s an essential need—but only if the P40 billion goes as directed. If it goes into the “Joc Joc” accounts of somebody, a crisis is well on the cards.

I suggest the President appoint independent, private sector auditors with full powers to audit the use of the funds. Maybe then we’ll believe she truly means business in the fight to reduce corruption.

P40 billion is the stimulus rice needs, but only if used properly. The pockets of favored friends is not a proper use.
