BACOLOD City: After seven years of legal wrangling and fighting
bureaucratic red tape, farmers seeking the distribution of the
hacienda of President Gloria Arroyo’s family, Hacienda Bacan, in
Negros Occidental expressed hope that they may be issued
certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) sometime next month,
reported Panay News.
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the
Land Bank of the Philippines finally reached an agreement to proceed
with the long-pending valuation of the property.

LEGAZPI CITY: The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
imposed the shellfish ban in Sorsogon Bay Friday after water samples
taken at the Bay turned positive for paralytic shellfish poisoning,
