AROUND 1,500 jins from Philippine Tae Kwon Do Association (PTA)
chapters and branches in Metro Manila will compete in the 2008
Petron-Smart New Face of the Year Championships slated May 3 to 4 at
the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
PTA President Roberto Aventajado said the
two-day event has six categories—senior men and women, junior men
and women, and grade school boys and girls. Competitions will begin
at 9 a.m.
“We expect new names and new faces to shine in
this tournament, which gives newcomers the chance to experience
actual competition,” said Aventajado.
Organizing committee chairman Sung Chon Hong
said the tournament fulfills PTA’s commitment to develop the sport
and support the government’s grassroots program.
Martial arts enthusiasts and other sports
afficionados are invited to watch the event supported by Philippine
Sports Commission, Smart Communications, Petron, PLDT, Milo and
Adidas.
