CABANATUAN CITY: What can a police website offer?
Pictures taken by professional
photographers are, yes, among them.
Launched Monday, the website of
the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office, features the “beauty and
serenity of a province that was once known for its violence.”
Senior Superintendent Napoleon
Taas, acting director of the provincial police, said the website
also contains soft materials on crime statistics and crime
prevention tips but reveals the scenic spots and places of human
interests in Nueva Ecija.
Six professional lens men from
the Society of Portrait Photographers of the Philippines (SPPP)
toured the province for three days to capture these spots, Taas
said.
Boy Samson, SPPP president said
they found a new face of the province with the tour. Contrary to
prevailing perception, he said, Nueva Ecija is one of the most
peaceful and secured provinces to visit.
“All six of us went around
unescorted in the municipalities of Bongabon, Rizal, Pantabangan,
Gabaldon, Calinog and Cabanatuan from April 18 to 20. Those places
offer some of the most picturesque locations that an amateur
photographer would surely love to visit.”
Pantabangan, he said is one
photographer’s paradise. He agreed with Taas in saying that Pantabangan
is practically “Tagaytay and Baguio put together.”
Taas said the website was created
in pursuit of “Mamang Pulis’” effort to get closer to the
people it vowed to serve and protect. He explained, however, the
website is still a work in progress.
The site, he added, will be
containing our crime maps, directional maps, and even more photos of
interesting places to see,”
It also features the recently
released “Mamang Pulis” theme song, said Taas who designed the
first Western Police District, now MPD, website way back in 1997.
He invited the public to visit
the NEPPO website at www.nuevaecijapulis.com and e-mail comments
to webmaster@nuevaecijapulis.com.
