Petron E10 Premium fuels SRA racing team

Petron E10 Premium, the specially formulated ethanol-gasoline blend introduced recently by oil industry leader Petron Corp., is being proven at the race track as it powers the Scuderia Ramirez de Arellano racing team in the Philippine Touring Car Championship (PTCC), Petron revealed. Headed by racing legend Pocholo Ramirez, Team Petron/SRA is zooming past the competition fueled by the company’s ethanol-based, environmental-friendly unleaded gasoline.

Responding to the call of the Department of Energy for cleaner, alternative sources of energy, the PTCC has mandated the use of E10 unleaded gasoline for the 2008 season, Petron said. It added that in the high-speed, optimum performance world of racing competition, the E10 Premium’s superior performance is being put to the test and proving its superiority with each race of Team Petron/SRA.

“Contrary to popular opinion, Petron E10 Premium does not sacrifice power or speed for eco-friendliness. In fact, the performance of Petron’s E10 is the same as unleaded gasoline,” said Team Petron/SRA’s Pocholo Ramirez.

According to Petron, the E10 Premium is not only an earth-friendly choice but pocket-friendly too as it costs P2 less that regular unleaded gasoline. E10 Premium is a mixture of 10-percent fuel-grade ethanol and 90-percent unleaded gasoline.

“Basically, racing on Petron E10 Premium shows that if environmentally friendly gasoline can function in high-performance vehicles such as race cars, it can work in ordinary, everyday cars,” said Team Petron/SRA’s Louis Ramirez.

Motolite powers electric jeepney

Philippine automotive battery maker Motolite announced it is powering the newest innovation in local public transportation—the electric jeepney. By improving on their patented golf cart battery technology, Motolite said it was able to produce a stronger, more reliable battery that can endure the extreme demands of public transportation.

These no-fuel, low-maintenance electric jeepneys—definitely an eco-friendly machine on wheels—is a welcome option for the Filipino commuting public especially in light of global warming, soaring fuel prices and other economical and environmental problems, Motolite said.

The e-jeeps are now plying the Legazpi and Salcedo Villages in Makati City. In the provinces, pilot areas include Bacolod City and Palawan.

“Motolite’s support of the e-jeep program serves to emphasize our pride in the Filipino way of life, and our passion for any local endeavor which can contribute to the national welfare and development. These e-jeeps are also powered by locally manufactured Motolite batteries—another testimony to the company’s fervent local pride,” said Arnold Sarmiento, the company’s industrial batteries division manager.
