Free ‘Joc-Joc,’ says Miriam

Arrest illegal,but Gordon won’t relent

Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago urged senators on Monday to free former Agriculture Under secretary Jocelyn “Joc-Joc” Bolante, saying his continued detention by the Senate might be unconstitutional.

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile agreed, but Sen. Richard Gordon, the chairman of the Senate blue-ribbon committee, said the Senate would continue to detain Bolante “until he ceases to give evasive and false testimonies or when an appropriate charge is filed against him.”
