A ranking official of the influential Catholic Bishops’ Conference
of the Philippines (CBCP) on Tuesday expressed his disappointment
with the government’s human-rights record.
The group’s president, Jaro Archbishop Angel
Lagdameo, said reported cases and violations of human rights under
the Arroyo administration could be described as “shameful.”
