CARLES, Iloilo: Cultivating a small piece of land is all that a
simple farmer needs to earn a living for his or her family that
small farmers like Elsa Bolaqueño are often deprive to have.
Although the Philippines has an existing law on
land distribution to landless farmers, Bolaqueño, 46 years old,
still has to face powerful landlord and their mighty ‘goons’ in
order to feed her 13 kids, just like the hundreds of small farmers
from different parts of the country fighting for their rights to
avail of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program of the
government.
