Christmas gifts. Every year you’re sure to give away and get your
share of generic Christmas gifts that can basically be given to any
person. While the thought is always what counts, there will always
be people that you want to gift with something unique and
distinctive.
To help you out, here is a list of quirky
Christmas gift ideas for just about everyone on your list. Consider
this the “Wow Gift List” that separates the “gifts” from the
“giveaways.” These ideas ain’t no fruit cake, that’s for
sure.
Prison break
Hand-painted t-shirts made by inmates at New
Bilibid Prison are for aching to break free from conformity.
Several months ago fashion designer Puey
Quinones began working with a group of maximum security inmates at
the New Bilibid Prison teaching them fashion design skills like the
art of painting t-shirts.
The result? Fifteen to 20 hand-painted t-shirts
produced each week with designs inspired by maestros such as
American painter Jackson Pollock and Fernando Amorsolo. An inmate
earns about P100 to P500 per shirt or garment sold.
Some of the celebrities who are fans of the
Bilibid designs include Boy Abunda, Ruffa Gutierrez and Iya
Villania.
Available at Bobon, The Podium and at L Manila,
Greenbelt 5.
