LETTER

A fair presentation

CONGRATULATIONS on the Special Report on “Generics Medicine Law” (February 3, 2008).

The report is a fair presentation of the side of government, the doctors and the pharmaceutical companies for the public to know.

However, let it not be said that the doctors are to be blamed for the dismal enforcement of the two-decade old Generics Act.

The doctors merely want to be given their right to prescribe the most effective and safe medicine that their patients can afford. In the practice of our profession, we are sworn to uphold the requirements of the “International Medical Code of Ethics” as strictly as possible.

Let me enclose xerox copies of published articles by non-members of the medical profession, which doctors strongly support and agree.

I am hopeful, that at the end, the best interest of the Filipino people will be truly served—a healthy and happy people!
