HANOI: Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet said Vietnam
strives to be removed from the list of developing countries with low
income in 2008, and actively acts as a nonpermanent member of the
United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and a member of the World
Trade Organization (WTO), central Vietnam Television reported
Thursday.
In his Lunar New Year speech, the president said
being removed from the list and an active member of the UNSC and the
WTO will “lay a foundation for Vietnam to basically become an
industrialized country by 2020,” Vietnam Television reported.
Vietnam will keep on accelerating economic
growth, raising its economy’s quality, developing culture and
society, and maintaining political stability, security and defense
for wealthy people, a powerful country, and a fair, democratic and
civilized society.
“With their patriotism, industriousness,
national unity, spirit and intelligence, Vietnamese people will gain
bigger and more comprehensive victories,” he said, noting that
Vietnam’s socio-economic development has Become Stronger And
Stronger, And The Country’s Status In The International Arena
Higher And Higher.
