RENEWED volatility in the financial markets, triggered by fresh data
showing the US service sector is contracting, indicates that we
haven’t seen the bottom of the present global economic downturn.
The service sector contributes the biggest to US
gross domestic product (GDP), much like in the Philippines. So a
slowdown in that part of the economy will have a big impact on
overall growth prospects.
