THE Philippine National Shooting Association has forged a
partnership with Quezon City aimed at developing future champions
from among boys and girls aged 12 to 17.
“Quezon City will be a great source of
shooting talents for our future national pool,” said QC Vice-
Mayor Herbert Bautista. “This partnership will definitely provide
a new journey for our young people which we can all be proud of.”
The QC Sports Council appointed shooting coach
Emil Concepcion, the father of many-time SEAG gold medalist Emerito,
to look for young shooters in the city.
Quezon City is the third city after Tagaytay and
Taguig which forged a tieup with the PNSA youth development program
headed by Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla.
Padilla, a 15-year veteran of the SEAG, said
clinics will be held to select outstanding athletes who will compete
in the regional tournament on May 30 to June 1 and the national
youth championships on November 28 to December 1 this year.
PNSA President Art Macapagal praised Padilla’s
group which has been actively linking with the local government
units.
“I’m counting on more cities to join the
program,” said Macapagal. “Tac is doing a great job, even
sacrificing his own time and resources in pursuit of our goal to
produce new faces in the sport.”
