THE 2007 to 2008 Asian Formula Three Series returns to the Batangas
Racing Circuit for the fourth of the series’ six legs on February
16 and 17. The most prestigious racing series in Asia was last seen
at the Castrol Grand Prix in January and fans are hoping the
competition will be just as fast and furious this time around.
The race for the championship, and its prize of
a test with the Force India F1 Team, is hotly contested between
current leader Frederic Vervisch of Belgium and Hamad Al Fardan of
Bahrain. Only three points separate the title protagonists and a
close race is expected again this weekend.
Rafael Suzuki of Brazil and Matt Howson of
England are both hoping to convert their season-long speed into that
elusive first race win.
Asian Formula Three is a truly international
series with drivers like Arturo Gonzales of Mexico, Niall Quinn of
Ireland and David Julian of the US competing this season. Roland
Hermoso will be the lone Filipino on the starting grid.
Race One is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on
February 15 and Race Two will begin at 2 p.m. On February 17 the
first race will take off at 11:30 a.m. and the final race will be at
2:30 p.m.
The chance to see the Formula One stars of
tomorrow should not be missed. Formula Three cars are just two steps
away from Formula One and their speed can only be appreciated at the
trackside. Entrance to the race circuit grandstand is free of
charge.
The Castrol Philippine Asian Formula Three Grand
Prix is supported by Pagcor and Lima City Hotel and will be aired on
Studio 23’s Stoplight TV. Visit www.asianf3.net for more
information.
