MotoGP rookie Jorge Lorenzo on Wednesday toured the Yamaha Spain
factory to get a deeper understanding of the company’s mindset in
racing and to meet the people behind the machines he and his
illustrious teammate, seven-time champion Valentino Rossi, race on.
The event was held near Barcelona and was attended by Yamaha’s key
officers led by Fiat Yamaha Team Manager Masahiko Nakajima and
Yamaha Spain President Jorge Lasheras.
“It has been very interesting to see the
worker with the bikes,” Lorenzo said after the tour. “I was able
to appreciate the human element of the fabrication process and I can
see that there are people working here all day to make the bikes
marvelous.”
Asked about his progression onboard the Yamaha
M1, Lorenzo was reluctant to give any specifics, instead saying
“the magician never reveals his secrets.
“ I was surprised by Rossi’s braking, but I
expect to get closer to him little by little,” he added.
Lorenzo is one of 18 premier class riders taking
part in this weekend’s MotoGP official test in Spain.
