One of the owners of the Beverly Hills 6750 Cosmetic Surgery and
Skin Institute in Makati are suing the clinic’s former president,
David Bunevacz, for estafa after he allegedly used company funds for
personal use. Bunevacz was a member of the national team and also
did modeling stints.
The complaint on the matter was filed before the
Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Tyrone Ong, one of the firm’s owners, said in
his complaint that he and the other investors hired auditors late
last year to look into the clinic’s finances after suspecting
management irregularities.
Ong said he started getting suspicious after he
received reports of the lavish lifestyle of Bunevacz and his wife,
Jessica Rodriguez.
“I learned that [Bunevacz] bought for
himself a Porsche Cayenne, and that he purchased a brand-new BMW X5
for his wife. Knowing the cost of these luxury vehicles, I wondered
why respondent continually approached the investors of Beverly
Hills to advance money for the company’s operations,” Ong said
in his complaint.
“The result of the preliminary audit report
was shocking, The auditors flagged down as anomalous several check
disbursements of corporate funds and that were signed and/or
authorized by [Bunevacz] principally because these disbursements
were for purposes not at all related to the operations of the
company,” Ong added.
Ong presented a check for P500,000 signed by
Bunevacz and issued in favor of Klassik (BMW) Motors dated September
1, 2007, which was believed to be the downpayment for the BMW X5.
However, Ong said no BMW X5 is listed as a
company asset. He also said the payment for the insurance of the
vehicle was never approved or ratified by the firm’s Board of
Directors.
All told, Ong said the illegal disbursements
that Bunevacz had authorized totaled P1.82 million. Bunevacz and his
wife fled to the US after the issue of the firm’s mismanagement
erupted.
