LETTER

Revolted by Sen. Arroyo

About your news item about the ZTE Senate hearings (“Lozada fears Abalos men,” Tuesday, Feb. 12), allow me to say that Sen. Joker Arroyo revolted me when he suddenly lashed at Lozada and shouted “Don’t mess around with my wife.”

Arroyo had accused Lozada of only talking to opposition people. This required Lozada, apparently an admirer of Arroyo until that moment, to disprove the senator’s accusation by citing other people he was talking to— including Joker Arroyo’s wife and columnist Tony Abaya.

Lozada was talking not only to ABS-CBN but also GMA TV and other media. But the latter do not give the ZTE hearings as much airtime as ABS-CBN’s Channel 2 and ANC cable channel laudably do.

Arroyo should not accuse Lozada of “besmirching every Tom, Dick and Harry” and his wife.  It is the Arroyo administration’s people who have besmirched themselves by their corruption, their untruthfulness and their kidnapping and demonization of Lozada.

I recall how Arroyo and his gang of so-called nationalists in the Cory Aquino administration opposed the able and patriotic Finance Secretary Jaime V. Ongpin. Does he?
