Saudi OFW kills, beheads compatriot

A FILIPINO driver in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was arrested by authorities after he was pinpointed as the primary suspect in the alleged killing and beheading of a compatriot.

According to the online website  Arab News, authorities from the Riyadh’s Sulaimaniya District made the arrest within two hours of the crime’s commission.

Police withheld the names of the suspect and the victim pending completion of its investigation.

Ambassador Antonio Villamor, the Filipino envoy to Riyadh, said he has instructed his staff to coordinate with the police and gather the necessary information on the case.

Police started their hunt after finding a severed head in a garbage box north of Riyadh. When they found the body, they saw it had nine stab wounds in various parts.

Riyadh police spokesman Maj. Sami Al-Suwairekh said they zeroed in on Southeast Asian communities living in the neighborhood and learned that a Saudi family in the area had two Filipino drivers, one of whom was missing.

At first, the Filipino who was questioned claimed he had no information about his colleague. But investigators became suspicious after they found some fresh wounds and marks in different parts of his body.

The Filipino later admitted killing his compatriot and detailed how he cut the man’s head and put it in a plastic cover along with his clothing, then dumped it in a garbage box in Malaz, far from the crime site.
