LETTER

Stop the floods

Now that the construction of the Manila-Cavite Coastal Road Project is in full swing, I wish to point out that there are times during tides that residents of the coastal barangays suffer  seawater floods.

The barangays are those in the municipalities of Bacoor, Kawit, Noveleta and Cavite City. Because the salty floodwater comes from Manila Bay, plants and fruit-bearing trees are destroyed.

In view of the destruction brought about by the construction of this Manila-Cavite Coastal Road, the government must take immediate steps to prevent recurrence by putting up dikes and pumping stations to stop flooding of seawaters in these localities.
