Photo exhibit, film festival focus on Taiwan

The University of Santo Tomas and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) will jointly put up a photo exhibition called “Enchanting Taiwan” and a weeklong film festival which will feature award-winning Taiwanese films at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex from February 18 to 22.

The opening ceremonies today will have lion dance performers followed by the cutting of the ribbon to open the weeklong exhibit. The photo exhibit will showcase photographs of Taiwan’s scenic spots and places of interest.

The movie Chocolate Rap will formally open the film festival. The films, all provided with English subtitles, cover varied interests such as love stories, nationalism and culture. The other films selected for the festival include such titles as The Rhythm in Wulu Village, Jump Boys, Fishing Luck, The Shoe Fairy, Let it Be, and Taipei’s Bohemians.

The cultural project, which is one of the activities to commemorate the 397th year of the University of Santo Tomas is a collaborative work between TECO and the university through the Office of Public Affairs, Office of the Secretary-General, the Students Organizations Coordinating Council, and the UST Graduate School.
