The University of Santo Tomas and the Taipei Economic and Cultural
Office (TECO) will jointly put up a photo exhibition called
“Enchanting Taiwan” and a weeklong film festival which will
feature award-winning Taiwanese films at the Thomas Aquinas Research
Complex from February 18 to 22.
The opening ceremonies today will have lion
dance performers followed by the cutting of the ribbon to open the
weeklong exhibit. The photo exhibit will showcase photographs of
Taiwan’s scenic spots and places of interest.
The movie Chocolate Rap will formally open the
film festival. The films, all provided with English subtitles, cover
varied interests such as love stories, nationalism and culture. The
other films selected for the festival include such titles as The
Rhythm in Wulu Village, Jump Boys, Fishing Luck, The Shoe Fairy, Let
it Be, and Taipei’s Bohemians.
The cultural project, which is one of the
activities to commemorate the 397th year of the University of Santo
Tomas is a collaborative work between TECO and the university
through the Office of Public Affairs, Office of the
Secretary-General, the Students Organizations Coordinating Council,
and the UST Graduate School.
