The Manila Police District (MPD) will limit
merienda costs for training and seminars as a cost cutting measure.
The MPD District Director, Chief Supt. Roberto
Rosales, bared that a memorandum directs that MPD seminars for
trainings should be limited to a simple breakfast or merienda for
participants.
The memorandum also indicates that occasions
such as Philippine National Police Anniversary, Christmas Party, New
Year and Closing Exercises “would be celebrated in a simple and
frugal manner.”
Activities such as conferences, seminars and
meetings should also be conducted, either from 8 a.m. up to 11 a.m.
and/or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The memo was signed by the MPD-District
Directorial Staff chief, Senior Supt. Mayo Laurel.
Rosales said that these measures are being
implemented because there is “meager financial support” for
training, and available funds can hardly support their day-to-day
operations.
The memorandum also regulates additional
allowances needed by policemen belonging to MPD.
