Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ turns silver
|
|
At least in the Philippines, there seems to be a
resurgence of interest in Michael Jackson. For one, dancer Jojo
Alejar, famous in the 80s for perfectly emulating Jackson’s
“moonwalk” dance moves, is back in the limelight with his
popular late-night program Sobrang Good Nite Show with Jojo A. In
January, Cebu’s dancing inmates who had become an overnight
YouTube sensation with their synchronized performance of Jackson’s
“Thriller,” caught the attention of the national media when they
almost made it to the city’s annual Sinulog Festival. Call it
coincidence, but the timing was perfect because the year 2008 marks
the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s Thriller, still considered
the world’s biggest-selling album of all time.
