LETTER

Garci tape and media responsibility

I concur with what Ms. Marit Stinus-Remonde wrote in her column [Feb. 19] entitled, “Handle Garci Tape With Care.” The different media entities must assume absolute responsibility for everything they broadcast or publish. True to form, there are media houses that air or publish any made-up news just to grab the attention of readers, listeners, or viewers. Their cruel intention is to magnetize ordinary people as well as advertisers by giving them personal benefits and satisfaction. This is wrong, very wrong.

Now that the Supreme Court is giving the broadcast media the freedom to air or not to air the Garci tapes, the media can exercise “responsibility.” Hopefully and prayerfully, the truth will come out. Now.
